The lava lamp is done as a single file, `index.html` (24 KB, no external requests). Open it with:

**What it shows.** A brass-capped glass lamp on a wooden desk against a dark wall. Purple liquid, orange wax, a warm glow on the wall and desk when lit. A cord runs from the base to an inline rocker switch on the desk. Add `?fps` to the URL for a frame counter.

**How the wax works.**
- Each blob carries a temperature. Wax near the pool at the bottom heats up, wax higher up cools. Buoyancy is proportional to temperature, so hot blobs rise and cool ones sink. Small blobs change temperature faster than big ones.
- Blobs are drawn as metaballs in a WebGL fragment shader, so touching blobs neck together and pull apart visibly. Blobs with similar temperature that overlap attract and merge into one with volume conserved. A rising blob meeting a sinking one slides past it instead.
- Large moving blobs randomly pinch into two pieces. The leading piece is slightly hotter and keeps going, the trailing piece is cooler and falls back.
- The pool at the bottom emits new blobs while hot and absorbs cool blobs that sink into it. Total wax volume is conserved.

**The switch.** Turning it off kills the bulb and the glows immediately, and the heater cools over a few seconds, so every blob cools, sinks, and settles into the pool. Turning it on relights the lamp and the pool starts emitting again after a short warm-up. The switch is a real button with an accessible pressed state and keyboard focus.

**Performance and layout.** The only per-frame work is one full-canvas shader pass over at most 16 blobs plus a tiny physics loop, and the canvas backing store is capped at about 0.9 megapixels, so it should hold 60 fps comfortably on a phone. Layout is a 100x170 unit stage that scales to `min(1vw, 100svh/170)`, so the whole scene fits a portrait phone and centres on a desktop. If WebGL is unavailable, a simplified Canvas 2D version draws circles instead.

**What I could and could not verify.** Chrome and Node are both blocked from running inside the sandbox, so I could not take a screenshot or measure fps. I did run the physics headlessly with Apple's `jsc` and stubbed DOM: the script parses and initialises, wax volume stays exactly conserved, blobs span the full glass height with hot ones rising and cool ones sinking, roughly 40 merge/split/emit events happen per minute, switching off drains all blobs into the pool within 45 s, and switching on restarts the cycle. The shader was reviewed by hand for WebGL 1 compliance but has not been compiled by a real GPU driver here, so please open it in a browser to confirm the visuals.

The lava lamp is done as a single file, `index.html` (24 KB, no external requests). Open it with:

**What it shows.** A brass-capped glass lamp on a wooden desk against a dark wall. Purple liquid, orange wax, a warm glow on the wall and desk when lit. A cord runs from the base to an inline rocker switch on the desk. Add `?fps` to the URL for a frame counter.

**How the wax works.**
- Each blob carries a temperature. Wax near the pool at the bottom heats up, wax higher up cools. Buoyancy is proportional to temperature, so hot blobs rise and cool ones sink. Small blobs change temperature faster than big ones.
- Blobs are drawn as metaballs in a WebGL fragment shader, so touching blobs neck together and pull apart visibly. Blobs with similar temperature that overlap attract and merge into one with volume conserved. A rising blob meeting a sinking one slides past it instead.
- Large moving blobs randomly pinch into two pieces. The leading piece is slightly hotter and keeps going, the trailing piece is cooler and falls back.
- The pool at the bottom emits new blobs while hot and absorbs cool blobs that sink into it. Total wax volume is conserved.

**The switch.** Turning it off kills the bulb and the glows immediately, and the heater cools over a few seconds, so every blob cools, sinks, and settles into the pool. Turning it on relights the lamp and the pool starts emitting again after a short warm-up. The switch is a real button with an accessible pressed state and keyboard focus.
